MIRAVAL, LIFE IN BALANCE RESORT & SPA

Noted sex expert and author Dr. Lana L. Holstein joins the staff to offer consultations, lectures, workshops and couples retreats at the award-winning destination resort and spa.

October 2003 (CATALINA, Arizona) Continuing their cutting edge approach to self-discovery, balance and renewal, Miraval Resort & Spa has announced a deeper focus into an essential element of life that is all too often take for granted or misunderstood: The art of magnificent sex.

Miraval’s new Sexuality & Vitality program, to be launched in early 2004, will compliment and enhance the award-winning resort’s current offerings that include physical, spiritual and emotional approaches to life. Given that nurturing sexual intimacy is critically reliant upon the ability to open one’s heart and soul, it’s a topic that fits exquisitely with Miraval?s core philosophy of mindfulness and bringing balance to the mind, body and spirit.

In her new role as Managing Director, Medical Programs for Miraval, Dr. Lana L. Holstein, M.D., will oversee, conduct and inspire programs addressing intimacy and sexuality issues with an on-going agenda of lectures, workshops, and private consultations. The Yale-educated Holstein has spent more than 25 years imparting her vast knowledge of the most controversial of subjects to help men and women find all the dimensions of their vital sexual connection.

Great sex is one of the most powerful forces in life – a healing force, as well as a physical vehicle for love ? and yet for far too many it?s a birthright that we never claim,? says Dr. Holstein, whose groundbreaking book How to Have Magnificent Sex (Harmony Books) has helped multitudes with its fresh approach to sexuality. When you are given a new framework that acknowledges each partner?s contributions and are taught the essential tools for lovemaking, it changes your relationship for the better. Great sex is often a rarity even for couples who are in love; I’m interested in making it a repeatable reality.

Miraval has always offered tools for getting in touch with one’s inner self, says Amy McDonald, Director of Spa & Guest Programs at Miraval. Dr. Holstein’s inspiring and affirming approach to sex is as much about intimacy with your partner, self-discovery, healing and rediscovering passion as it is about physical technique. Her work is an exceptional opportunity for couples to discover how to ?live in the moment, which is fundamentally what the Miraval experience is all about.

The first of Dr. Holstein’s workshops in 2004, Four Days to a Lifetime of Magnificent Sex, is an all-inclusive retreat for couples who desire to enhance their sexual intimacy. Dr. Holstein teaches the couples programs with her physician husband, David Taylor, MD. From both doctors, couples will learn critical anatomy and physiology facts, the seven essential dimensions of sexuality and be given tools to create individual plans to take home. The program includes instruction in couples’s massage, sensual Aqua Zen water therapy, ample opportunity for questions and answers, and homework assignments to be completed in the comfortable privacy of your guestroom at Miraval.

Scheduled dates in 2004 for this workshop include: January 11-15, Feb. 11-15 (Valentine’s Day weekend), May 5-9, July 25-29, October 1-5, Nov. 7-11.

The Four Days to a Lifetime of Magnificent Sex retreat runs $5,985 per couple, and includes all workshop events, luxury accommodations, three gourmet meals daily, unlimited access to all scheduled programs and activities, a daily spa service per person each night of stay and roundtrip transportation from Tucson International Airport.
