Look to VISIT FLORIDA for Latest Oil Spill Impact Information

As the State of Florida’s official tourism marketing organization, VISIT FLORIDA is serving the vital role as a key provider of up-to-the-minute information to the tourism industry, the media and our visitors on the BP/Transocean Deepwater Horizon oil drilling incident affecting the gulf coast. We began monitoring the situation early last week, providing our Partners and other tourism industry representatives with talking points and media assistance as the week progressed.
With Governor Crist’s Executive Order declaring a state of emergency for six gulf coast counties and the activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Friday, April 30, our staff became actively involved with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the rest of the team of state agency officials responding to the situation.
In addition to the updates we have been posting on our industry and media websites, we will begin posting information here on our corporate blog as well. Please sign up for the RSS feed or e-mail alerts on new postings to receive the latest reports.
