Florida’s Lighthouse Festival Named “Top 20″ Event By Southeast Tourism Society
The Southeast Tourism Society has selected the 14th Annual St. Augustine Lighthouse Festival as one of the top twenty events occurring in the region during March 2006.
Headquartered in Atlanta, the Southeast Tourism Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting tourism in 11 southeastern states from West Virginia to Louisiana. Each month, the Society selects 20 outstanding events and promotes them via more than 300 newspapers, magazines, and broadcast stations – as well as in 125 AAA publications. As a result, honored events benefit from free, widespread publicity they might not otherwise receive.
This year’s St. Augustine Lighthouse Festival will take place March 18, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. The popular event features live entertainment, special games, crafts for children, archaeological exhibits, living history presentations, food and even pony rides. During the festival, admission to the lighthouse tower, grounds, and museum is free. In addition, the annual Michelob Ultra Twilight 5K Run gets underway in front of the Keeper’s House at 4:30 p.m. For more information on the festival, visit the lighthouse website at www.staugustinelighthouse.com or call 904.829.0745.
More information on festivals, events and special accommodation packages is available from the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau’s website, www.getaway4florida.com, or by calling 1.800.418.7529.
