US Thanksgiving & “Black Friday” Means Big Savings for Canadians

TORONTO – The holiday season doesn’t fully get into gear in the United States until “Black Friday” – the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving – this year Black Friday is November 26, 2010. The term “Black Friday” is generally used by retail outlets and the media and refers to the start of the period in which retailers go from being in the red to being in the black.

Even though Canadians have already had their Thanksgiving why not piggyback on our neighbours to the south and take advantage of all the special packages and deals.

What it means to Canadians is a great time to have a quick getaway to New Hampshire.

“Canadians will love all the special deals centered around the US Thanksgiving and Black Friday and though the bargains will be bountiful one thing won’t – taxes,” said Chris Ryall, Canadian Representative for the New Hampshire Division of Travel & Tourism Development. “New Hampshire has no sales tax plus you will never see these letters on any sales receipt – GST, PST and for residents of certain provinces, HST. Go ahead and start shopping for the holidays or just have fun for a quick and inexpensive holiday,” added Ryall.

Here are just a few of the many deals and packages available – please visit New Hampshire’s main website www.visitnh.gov and go to the packages section of the website, http://www.visitnh.gov/where-to-stay/packages.aspx you will see the complete range of packages that are updated and posted on a regular basis.
