Treat heat exhaustion immediately

Travel Safety Quick Tip: (NC)—Protection from sun and heat includes sunscreens, sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats, staying out of the sun in the middle of the day, and drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated. Vacation specialists at Club Med remind us that the first warning signs of heat exhaustion are headache, dizziness, cramps, blurred vision and nausea. If these symptoms occur, get out of the sun, lie down with feet elevated, and sip cool water. Heat stroke is more serious. The first warning signs include those of heat exhaustion accompanied with disorientation, flushed skin, rapid breathing, and a high fever. If these occur bring the body temperature down with cold wet towels and call for immediate medical care.
