Thailand celebrates the Thai New Year of Songkran, April 10 – 15, 2010

Songkran, or Thai New Year, is perhaps the most festive time of the year throughout Thailand. From April 10-15, Thai people return to their familial homes and the entire country captures the imagination of travelers with a mix of solemn tradition and raucous fun, which culminates in the splashing of water on friends and relatives!

In Bangkok, the Songkran Grand Celebration will take place on Rattanakosin Island, beginning with the opening ceremony on April 10 at the Temple of the Reclining Buddha.
