Taiwan Hosts Travel Fair

Taiwan will host the 2005 Taipei International Travel Fair (Taipei ITF) from November 17 to 20 and expects a record number of attendees. Representatives from more than 50 countries and regions are expected to participate in the event to be held at the Taipei World Trade Center. The Taiwan Visitors Association which is organizing the travel fair has also announced a record number of exhibitors – a total of 785 booths have been booked.

Since its inception the Taipei ITF has grown significantly– this is its 13th year – and is a major event for tourism-related enterprises that are interested in the Asia market. Fifty-eight countries have signed up this year. Among the first timers are Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, the Solomon Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent. Australia and Vietnam are participating after a few years’ absence. With 67 booths, Japan has the largest contingent of individual exhibitors. Twenty countries from the Asia-Pacific region will be represented, 15 from the Americas, nine from Europe and 10 from Africa.
