Syrian tourism industry discussed at presidential level

Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad chaired a meeting of the Tourism Higher Council which comprised of the Prime Minister and ministers of Finance, Transport, Interior, Local Administration and Environment and Minister of Tourism. At the beginning of the meeting, President al-Assad stressed the necessity of giving the tourism sector a special importance to come up with the diversity of the natural, historical and tourist constituents Syria is rich of, and to show the civilized image of Syria and its fame as a cradle of civilization.

President al-Assad gave his directives that each ministry to provide the elements of the tourist production which come under its authority.

Later, Minister of Tourism briefed the Higher Council on a detailed study of the Syrian tourism situation. The study showed a remarkable improvement in the number of Arab and foreign tourists who visited Syria this year comparing to the last year.

Talks were held on the proposes presented by Tourism Ministry which are related to encouraging investment in the tourist sector and promoting the levels of the tourist production.

It was agreed to hold a conference for the tourist investment in the second quarter of the next year to show the buildings and lands that are suitable for the tourist investment.

The Higher Council agreed to prepare a digital index for those buildings, and provide the investors with the needed information to study the opportunities of the investment in each site.
