The Lake Geneva Region, or canton of Vaud, is located on the shore of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) in the French-speaking part of Western Switzerland. With one of the highest concentration of Michelin star restaurants in Europe, the Lavaux vineyards which were recently named a UNESCO World Heritage site, over 3,000 km of marked hiking and biking trails and the majestic landscape with the Alps, charming countryside and picturesque lakeside promenade, there are enough reasons to book a trip to the region at any time of the year. www.lake-geneva-region.ch

Opening of Mirador Kempinski – The 5-star hotel located in Mont-Pèlerin has reopened its doors in June 2009, after a ten month major renovation. Renovations included the reconstruction of 14 luxury apartments, construction of 45 Deluxe Resort rooms, one Givenchy suite of 320 square meters, one panoramic restaurant, and one underground park. www.mirador.ch
Kids up to 9 Ski and Stay for Free – This winter, ski resorts in the Lake Geneva Region Alps are giving free skiing passes and accommodations for kids up to the age of nine. This offer is limited to certain hotels. Visit www.alpes.ch to see the complete list and more details.
Leysin Revolving Restaurant now runs on solar energy – At Le Kuklos Revolving Restaurant located 2048 meters above sea level, ten solar panels have been installed, allowing that the restaurant to revolve 360° within 1.5 hours thanks to the energy of the sun. The next stage will consist of making the restaurant entirely independent of traditional means of energy, aspiring to be the first entirely green restaurant in the region. www.lake-geneva-region.ch
Renovations complete at Petit Manoir – Located in Morges, the Petit Manoir features 11 guest rooms, as well as a business conference room complete with A/V capabilities, a signature restaurant where the Executive Chef prepares the fresh catch and produce of the day and an elegant wine cellar available for various wine tastings of the region and beyond. www.lepetitmanoir.ch
Lavaux Vinorama to open Spring 2010 – Located in the heart of the Lavaux vineyards (UNESCO World Heritage site), the upcoming Lavaux Vinorama will be a center dedicated to vines and wine. The focus of the center will feature a documentary film, chronicling one year in the life of a local vintner’s family. There are over 300 different wines of the region available for tasting and for sale. www.lavaux-vinorama.ch
