Like "stepping into an O'Keefe painting," The Wayfarers heads to New Mexico for a spirited six-day itinerary coinciding with Mother's Day; other Women-Only Walks explore The Cotswolds & Oxford and Italy's Lake District.

In stark contrast to yesterday's manicure-and-massage girlfriend getaways, The Wayfarers, the world's premier purveyor of walking adventure vacations, introduces a trio of enriching Girlfriend Getaways this year.  Ideal for mothers and daughters and female friends, the women-only itineraries are specially crafted to include a variety of memorable "extras" designed exclusively with women in mind.
 
Coinciding with Mother's Day, the first walk explores the magical terrain and stunning adobe architecture of New Mexico, May 13 – 18, 2007.  Walkers will follow in the footsteps of Georgia O'Keefe, tracing a path through a land of rugged beauty and impossibly blue sky.  Highlights of the six-day, five-night itinerary include a tour of O'Keefe's home and museum; a day at Ghost Ranch, her summer home and source of inspiration; a foot massage at the acclaimed Ten Thousand Waves Spa; and a fabulous New Mexico cookbook, as well as ample time to explore the markets, shops and art galleries of historic Santa Fe. A moderate walk covering four to six miles per day, it begins and ends in Santa Fe and is priced $2295,

From July 29 – August 3, Wayfarers women will explore The Cotswolds and Oxford on a six-day,
five-night itinerary that showcases the quintessential English landscape, with a special visit to 53-acre
Showshill Lavender Farm, as well as Daylesford Organic Farm Shop; Sudeley Castle (home of Henry
VIII's last wife, Catherine Parr) and Hidcote Manor Gardens, one of England's great gardens.  An easy
walk of three to eight miles each day, it begins in Broadway and ends in Oxford.  This new women's-only
itinerary is priced $2,995, inclusive of accommodations, meals, all transfers, admissions, gratuities and more. 
 
Italy's lake country is the destination of the third Girlfriend Getaway, scheduled September 19 – 22.
The Three Italian Lakes itinerary explores the lakes of Como, Maggiore and Lugano.  Highlights include
a visit to the 18th-century Villa Carlotta on Lake Como, a cable car trip to the summit of Monte Mottarone
and shopping in Stresa. An energetic walk of three to four hours each morning with optional additional
afternoon walking, it begins in Orta and ends in Como.  This beautiful Italian tour is priced $3,495, and
includes accommodations, meals, all transfers, admissions, gratuities and more.
