Focus on Qatar, Official Guest Country, at This Year’s AWTTE 2005 in Beirut
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) ‘brings Qatar to the world’ during this years Arab World Travel & Tourism Exchange (AWTTE), currently taking place in Beirut, September 29 – October 2.
Qatar, official guest country, has already generated a great deal of enthusiasm from visitors and exhibitors alike with record numbers visiting the stand. There has been particular interest in the country’s remarkable achievements in establishing itself as a tourism destination and important player in international travel. This is especially apparent in light of ambitious plans for the forthcoming period, including infrastructure associated with the new airport and organization of events such as the Asian Games in 2006.
Qatar Tourism Authority will not only focus on the country’s rapid growth and infrastructural development. Qatar, known as the ‘heart of the Arabian Gulf’, will highlight its rich culture during the four day exhibition commencing tonight with the Qatari Night Gala Dinner hosted by H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority and CEO of Qatar Airways.
“Qatar is pleased to be participating as Guest Country in this years AWTTE and we look forward to showcasing the many features Qatar has to offer the business and leisure traveller.”, said Jan Poul N. de Boer, Acting Director General, Qatar Tourism Authority. “We also look forward to sharing our culture, tradition and heritage with the rest of the world at AWTTE 2005.”
One of AWTTE’s key highlights, the Qatari Night Gala Dinner happens tonight. Guests including hosted buyers, members of the media and other exhibitors will enjoy a true Qatari cultural fest of traditional food, sword dancing and craftsmen displays.
