U.S. Company to Host Nepal’s First-Ever Half Marathon
Boulder-based Explore Adventure Sports will host Nepal’s first-ever half marathon on November 12, 2006, to benefit the Himalayan Cataract Project . The run will fall on the ninth day of a 14-day adventure — The Nepal Trek and Trail Run — a journey through some of the most magnificent terrain on this planet.
“This is something I’ve dreamed of putting together for years,” explains Explore Adventure Sports founder John Oliva. “With the strong contacts and friends we’ve made during our more than 20 trips to Nepal, we are finally able to offer this package to travelers — while helping the remarkable Himalayan Cataract Project.”
The Nepal Trek and Trail Run — is designed for everyone. The adventure begins with a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu (including a tour of the Tilanganga Eye Center), then a flight to Pokhara to begin the trek. The journey weaves through the lower-altitude Annapurna region of Nepal and has minimal altitude gain. Guides will lead trekkers through lush bamboo forests and rice fields, across many waterfalls and to stunning views of the Himalayas.
