MONACO A SURE BET AS FAIRMONT HOTELS & RESORTS’ LATEST DESTINATION IN EUROPE

TORONTO, March 29, 2005 – Fairmont Hotels & Resorts’ hallmarks of luxury, royalty, history and distinctive style have a new home on the glittering Côte d’Azur. Through a European-focused joint venture with Bank of Scotland and Kingdom Hotels International, Fairmont has invested in and now manages Monaco’s Monte Carlo Grand Hotel.  This 619-room urban resort on the Riviera coast will be officially re-flagged The Fairmont Monte Carlo on March 29.  To encourage guests to let the chips fall where they may, The Fairmont Monte Carlo is offering a special introductory starting at EUR 199 (approximately $311 CDN) per room, per night through April 30, 2005.

The Fairmont Monte Carlo features five restaurants and bars, a spectacular rooftop pool, on-site casino and shopping gallery.  Designed to echo the sleek elegance of an ocean liner and architecturally avant garde since it opened in 1975 (a portion of its foundation is set into the seabed), this modern palace hotel hugs the coastline directly below the famous Monte Carlo Casino.

Guestrooms at the hotel, including 27 suites and 31 junior suites, provide a dual sense of generous comfort and switched-on technology (from faxes to Internet TVs) then extend expansive views of a postcard perfect Mediterranean dotted with cruise ships or lush gardens and vibrant Monaco.  Corner suites are particularly coveted for watching the annual F1 Monaco Grand Prix each June, the only race on the circuit that speeds through city streets.

Already in the planning stages, numerous phased enhancements to the hotel are slated for the next two years, including the introduction of Fairmont Gold, the company’s exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel product with private check-in, a dedicated concierge and residentially styled guest lounge and honor bar, among other features.

Featuring a collection of fabled castles, secluded lodges, storied meeting places and modern retreats, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts opens the doors to some of the world’s most celebrated addresses.  With locations throughout eight countries, our 45 distinctive hotels – including The Fairmont San Francisco, The Fairmont Banff Springs and London’s Savoy – promise travelers unparalleled settings, rich experiences and lasting memories.  Future Fairmont Hotels & Resorts include The Fairmont Mayakoba, Riviera Maya (fall 2005), The Fairmont Cairo and The Fairmont Abu Dhabi Resort & Villas.
