The Kazakhstan Tourism Association (KTA) and Ecotourism Resource and Information Centre Join The Region Initiative (TRI)

The Kazakhstan Tourism Association (KTA) and the Ecotourism Resource and Information Centre have joined The Region Initiative (TRI). Both organisations are of the oldest in Kazakhstan and deal purely with Community Based Tourism Development and Ecotourism. Kazakhstan is all about the greatness of the mountain peaks, sparkling glaciers, mysteriousness of the deserts, giant rocky canyons, emerald lakes, pertly running rivers, unique flora and fauna and the poetry of its sunlight.

A sizable piece of the Great Silk Way, (1400 km,) this is the country with the most ancient civilization on the Eurasian continent and is also a home for nomad tribes. Kazakhstan is the fatherland of the great philosopher and Sufism founder, Hodzha Ahmet Jassaui. To top off the impressive heritage are about 27,000 antiquities in the Republic.

Kazakhstan is the ninth largest country in the world, covering an area of 2,7 million sq km. It is located in the centre of the Eurasian continent and is bordered by the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and China. The total border length is 12187 km.

Kazakhstan is known for a variety of landscapes: from high snow mountains to steppes, semi-deserts and deserts. The lowest point is Karagie hollow (-132 m), and the highest point is Khan Tengri Peak (7010 m).
