USA-Israel Tourism Up 25% In First 9 Months Of 2003

1.2 Million Tourists Expected By Year’s End
NEW YORK (October 30, 2003) – Tourism to Israel from the United States has risen 25% in the first nine months of 2003 over the same period of 2002, says Rami Levi, Tourism Ambassador of Israel to North and South America. 1.2 million visitors are expected to come to Israel in calendar year 2003, according to Minister of Tourism, Binyamin Elon.

Tourism from North America makes up approximately 25% of the total number of tourists to Israel, a 20% growth in share since 2000.

“Much of this growth has to do with the Ministry’s intensive marketing efforts in the United States,” Levi continued, “including the massive campaign conducted over this year’s Jewish High Holy Days in cooperation with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, urging Jewish Americans to pledge ‘I Care. And I’m Going.’”
