New York’s Mayor Bloomberg Signs Israel Tourism Pledge At Western Wall
Pledge Proclaims “I Care. And I’m Going.”
JERUSALEM, Israel (August 26, 2003) – During his one-day solidarity visit to Jerusalem, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg today kicked off the Israel Ministry of Tourism’s “I Care. And I’m Going” tourism pledge campaign.
The Mayor, in Jerusalem to demonstrate New Yorkers’ solidarity with the residents of Israel’s capital, paused during his visit to the Western Wall to sign the pledge that reads: “More and more Americans are demonstrating their commitment to Israel by visiting Israel NOW.
Join the thousands of Americans who are reaffirming their deep concern and commitment to Israel – by saying “I Care. And I’m Going.”
Finishing touches to the Tourism Pledge Campaign were finalized last week in New York with Israel’s Minister of Tourism, Binyamin Elon, according to Rami Levi, Tourism Ambassador of Israel to North and South America. The campaign, co-sponsored by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, will put hundreds of thousands of tourism pledge cards on synagogue seats across America during the upcoming High Holy Days, urging Americans to visit Israel in the coming twelve months.
Tourism to Israel has soared recently, with increases ranging from 40 to 70% each month since the spring. 1.2 million visitors are expected in Israel in 2003.
