Israeli Opera Celebrates 25th Anniversary with NABUCCO and Jessye Norman Concert at Masada
New York – January 12, 2010: In honor of its 25th anniversary, the Israeli Opera will present two sunrise performances of Verdi’s Nabucco and a special concert with world-renowned diva Jessye Norman at the footsteps of Masada, June 3-5.

The sunrise performances of Verdi’s Nabucco will be directed by world-renowned Israeli conductor Daniel Oren and feature Georgian opera singer Paata Burchuladze on an elaborately built stage at the foot of Masada. The weekend will showcase a gala concert featuring American soprano Jessye Norman accompanied by the Israeli Opera Orchestra (June 4) and a selection of tours and sunrise concerts atop Masada.
“The Israeli Opera’s presentation of Verdi’s Nabucco is one of Israel’s most highly anticipated musical events,” says Arie Sommer, Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. “The concert’s location at the footsteps of Masada will provide music fans and travelers with a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience.”
