5th Mountain Biking Event- MB- Himachal- 2009 to be flagged off on September 27th, 2009 at Peterhoff Shimla (India) to mark the World Tourism Day

Shimla, September 25, 2009, Pedal through the western Himalayas, as Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department and Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association Shimla (HASTPA) unveil the 5th edition of Mountain Biking Himachal the annual mountain cycling adventure and extravaganza in the Himalayan State Himachal Pradesh. It’s a salute to the indomitable human spirit and a toast to adventure lovers from around the world, as they come together for this grand cycling spectacle to the majestic ranges of the Himalayas.

5th Mountain Biking Event-MB- Himachal- 2009 will be flagged off by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister on 27th September, 2009 at 9.00A.M. at Peterhoff Shimla to mark the World Tourism Day and finish podium is set at Manali on the 6th October, 2009 followed by the prize distribution.

Mountain Biking Event is being organised by Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association Shimla with the support of Tourism and Civil Aviation Department of the state government.

Mountain biking has always been a pleasure for a person who loves adventure and sports and when it is done amidst the luxurious surrounding of nature then it becomes more delightful the exquisite. Varied topography of Himachal offers a wide scope for Biking. Another good thing about biking is that it does not generate carbon footprints. It is good for ecosystem too, as it does not harm the environment. Biking is like climbing on a mountain, but with the help of a bike, whether you are riding on a smooth surface or a hard one, mountain biking provides you a fantastic drive, so conquering the endless climbs and then slide is a matter of a sheer skill, strength and spirit.

Ninteen member army team,ten member air force team,six member team from Nepal,large number of participants from 2nd tier cities, women participants from interiors of the country and Nepal are participanting in the event. About 82 International and National cyclists are expected to participate in the event.

About 700 kms remote distance of three districts of the state would be covered during the 9 days event. On 27th September, 2009 the cyclist will cross Navbahar, Sanjauli, Dhalli, Mashobra, Baikhalti, Fagu, Sainj and the night half would be at Gumma.

The events will cover three districts Shimla, Mandi and Kullu and will cross from Rahroo, Thani Jubbar, Kullu Sarahan, Bahu, Gada Gushaini, Bagsaad. etc.There are four different categories e.g.Open Men,Open Women,Open Masters,Teams of Two.

Doctors and ambulances equipped to handle emergencies during the rally will be available with the organizers. Arrangements have been made to maintain law and order keeping the large crowd expected to present during the course of event.
