Maverick Entrepreneurs Plan Plunge into WorldÂ’s Top Freshwater Dive Site in Iceland
POTOMAC, MD, June 5, 2009 — Entrepreneurs are used to taking a plunge into the unknown. But Yanik Silver, founder of Maverick Business Adventures®, will be taking this concept a lot further when he and like-minded entrepreneurs suit up to dive into IcelandÂ’s infamous Silfra Ravine in late July during a five-day adventure that also includes working with young Icelandic entrepreneurs.
Silver, a self-proclaimed “adventure junkie,” maverick internet entrepreneur and self-made millionaire, believes that this epic dive adventure, considered to be one of the best in the world, will “give our team members clarity and inspiration for a week of fun, inspiration and breakthrough thinking.” He says his own life-changing experiences such as running with the bulls, bungee jumping and high-altitude sky diving have brought a profound sense of accomplishment and led to clarity in ideas and focus. This inspired him to create Maverick Business Adventures® for like-minded entrepreneurs, CEOs and business owners seeking to enhance their own business acumen while reaching out to assist others through philanthropy.
The energy from this rare experience will transfer to networking/business building sessions and will culminate in an Aug. 2 Young Entrepreneurs program in Reykjavik where Silver hopes that their own out-of-the-box thinking can inspire Icelandic youth to cut through the countryÂ’s economic morass to create their own new paradigms of success for the future.
The dive takes place in the Atlantic rift, the geological dividing line between the continents of Europe and America. It’s a huge crack in the earth’s surface, which is slowing widening by about two centimeters per year. In the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean this crack is mainly unseen, but as the fault cuts its way through the center of Iceland, gigantic gullies are formed. Melted water from Iceland’s glaciers is filtered by the porous lava rock, which in turn flows into these gullies. The water has better visibility than 99 percent of the worldÂ’s best dive sites and is regarded by veteran divers to be one of the top three dive sites on the planet. Bizarrely, as a result of the slow separation of the North American and Euro-Asian Tectonic Plates, a dive can begin in Europe and end in North America.
Members pay $13,695 each for the privilege of participating in the five-day program that also will include snowmobiling, caving, ice climbing and trekking interspersed with daily business building sessions. Throughout the week attendees will gain insights from celebrity business icon and guest Morten Lund, a venture capitalist who has founded and invested in 85 high profile tech start-ups including Skype which was sold to eBay for $4.3B.
Maverick Business Adventures® members attending the events in Iceland are recognized as top performers in their respective professions ranging from Internet marketing pioneers, INC 500 companies, multi-national manufacturers, and heads of financial institutions, to international real estate developers and restaurateurs.
Maverick Business Adventures® is structured to be an exclusive group and membership is by-application-only, limited to forward thinking business men and women with proven abilities and success. Silver stresses that the focus is not on corporate team building or motivational development. Instead, members will be invited to join all-inclusive adventure outings that encourage the type of high-level networking and powerful connections that can only occur outside of normal business settings.
A few spaces still remain on the July 29-Aug. 2 Iceland adventure.
