Theme of France’s 2005 Nice Carnaval is Roi du Fol Climat Merdaille Cornipétant (King of the Deranged Climate)
Nice Carnaval is a not-to-be-missed event – the music, the people, the magic – all of the elements of life in this lovely French port city are on full display and in living color during this annual niçoise celebration. The theme for the 2005 Nice Carnaval is Roi du Fol Climat Merdaille Cornipétant (King of the Deranged Climate). The official program runs from February 12-27 and includes music, parades, exhibitions and the traditional “big heads” on display. The Nice Carnaval is the first international carnival celebration in France and attracts 1,200,000 visitors every year.
New for 2005, all of the parades will take place on the world-famous Promenades des Anglais against the natural backdrop of the Mediterranean. Other new additions include a Grand Parade and an evening torchlight Flower Parade. The program begins on February 12 with the Arrival of His Majesty, the King of the Carnaval, and a parade, at 2:30 pm. That night at 9:00 pm is the Parade of Lights. Tuesday, February 15 brings the Flower Parade aux Flambeaux at 9:00 pm and there is a Bonfire on the final night, February 27, at 9:00 pm. Admission for the final bonfire event is free. Admission prices to the other events vary depending on seating or standing tickets.
