DTCM Conducted Tour Guide Award Update Program (Dubai)
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has conducted its second Tour Guide Award update for the year 2005 at the Jumeirah Beach Conference Centre recently.
The Update is for licensed tour guides and offers them an opportunity to learn about new developments in Dubai, as well as news of the tour guiding industry, at a one-day workshop. On successful completion, the guides receive a renewal of their license for one year..
Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, DTCM Manager Human Resources, Training and Development, said: “This year we have planned joint sessions that will include both tour guides and key front office staff of the hotels .We believe it is important for all those who meet the tourists in Dubai to always improve their techniques and their knowledge of local development, and as well to have opportunities to work together to share their experience.”
Mr. Badr Zowayed, DTCM Training Coordinator, said 70 tour guides and 71 front house staff from 22 hotels attended this update session. One more update will be held in 2005 – in November at the Jumeirah Beach Conference Centre.
He reminded all tour guides that in order to keep their licenses up to date and to maintain the right to guide in Dubai, they must update their licenses yearly.
