Dubai Summer Surprises 2009 announces its Signature Events
Dubai Summer Surprises has announced its Signature Events as the summer extravaganza prepares to present the twelfth edition this year from June 11 to August 14. Spanning 65 days, DSS 2009 will be held under the slogan ‘Surprising Dubai’.
Signature Events are a series of theme-based activities and a major attraction during the summer, all conceptualized at the Dubai Shopping festival Office as original ideas nad that have proved to be popular.
DSS 2009 will have nine Signature Events this year including the Sheila and Abaya Fashion, World of
Stories, Middle East Junior Chef of the Year 2009, Min Bladi Al Emarat, Arts Oasis, Kids Fashion Week, Kids Olympic Games, The Collectors, and the Photography Exhibition. As the core entertainment segment of every DSS edition, Signature Events encapsulate the high level of entertainment offered to DSS visitors.
Australian band regales visitors at Festival@The Dubai Mall
The latest addition to the entertainment roster at The Dubai Mall is the leading Australian Group, Maske, performing classical pop music on their Yamaha Silent Electronic instruments. The band treats customers to their unique musical tracks throughout the rest of the festival.
Maske has regaled audiences across the world, including the US and Australia, and are performing in the UAE exclusively at The Dubai Mall. Exceptionally talented, the trio of Rosanna, Jessica and Suzie engage the audience with solo musical performances and their own versions of various movies soundtracks including the familiar music from Mission Impossible and Jaws, to name a few.
SEGA Republic set to bring high adrenaline rides to Dubai within weeks
An exciting array of theme park adventures awaits families at The Dubai Mall, with the largest-ever SEGA Republic in the Middle East region due to open shortly. A high-adrenaline ride, adventure and gaming zone, SEGA Republic is developed in association with Japan-based SEGA Corporation, one of the global leaders in hi-tech entertainment.
Finishing work on SEGA Republic, the newest leisure attraction at the mall, is currently progressing for opening this Summer, for which The Dubai Mall has set apart 76,000 square feet across two levels. An indoor roller-coaster, thrilling rides and motion simulators, many of which are bespoke attractions for Dubai, are the highlight of SEGA Republic, which will appeal to all members of the family.
SEGA Republic will feature numerous key attractions including Spin Gear, Halfpipe Canyon, SOnic Hopper, Intiail D4, Storm-G and Outrun SP. With most of the major attractions being based on skill levels, visitors are guaranteed that no two rides are ever the same, providing a unique experience every time.
While the bespoke roller-coaster, Spin Gear, is set to become a rage among families, Halfpipe Canyon, a snow/skateboarding simulator that has gained a phenomenal following at SEGA’s Joypolis theme park in Japan, is also keenly awaited by theme park enthusiasts in the region. “Drifting” fans can now experience the thrill of Initial D4 and Sonic Hopper, the 9-metre drop tower that provides a breath-taking ride.
The Tiger Woods Dubai Completes Grassing of Three Holes on Al Ruwaya Golf Course
The Tiger Woods Dubai, announced the completion of grassing on three holes on Al Ruwaya Golf Course, the world’s first golf course created by Tiger Woods Design at the landmark development.
An impressive 1,500 yards of grass in three different varieties including Tifway 419, TifEagle, and Tifdwarf, all procured from Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, has been laid on holes 4 (par 4), 5 (par 5) and 6 (par 4) at the championship golf course. These completed holes will provide golfers with unique challenges including dramatic topography, water features and several strategic obstacles all set within a lush landscape of over 11,000 trees and 140,000 shrubs.
The Tiger Woods Dubai promises to be a golf experience that epitomizes excellence and meets the highest standards of quality. The development continues to progress with the completion of bulk earth works.
2,243 trees have already been planted on the golf course and a further 6000 are in the nursery.
Furthermore, rough shaping is complete on all 18 holes, 10 of which have been finely shaped. Construction is also complete on the main stream and one of the lakes comprising of the vast 3.3 million sq. ft. of water features incorporated into the golf course.
