Happy and Healthy in Denmark
In the past month, both CBS’s 60 Minutes and ABC’s 20/20 focused on the Danes’ consistently strong world rankings in terms of happiness, life satisfaction and contentment. It all has to do with managing your expectations and taking pleasure in what’s truly important - family, health and leisure. One way to enjoy all three is to get around like the Danes do: on a bike.
It’s good for your health and for the environment, and it’s an easy, economical way to go exploring. In Copenhagen, take a guided City Safari bike tour or use the city’s fantastic free City Bikes, available on easy-to-spot racks from April through November.
City tours by bike
One of the best ways to really get close to the sights is by joining a guided bycicle tour. Gliding through the traffic is safe and relaxing, there are no hills to contend with, and the distances in the inner city are very reasonable.
City Safari
Guided tours for individuals and groups on bikes. Theme tours may include e.g. Historical Copenhagen, Around Carlsberg, Modern Architecture, In Hans Christian Andersen’s Footsteps or Copenhagen by Night. For detailed information check website.
Flying Tigers rickshaw
If you prefer others to do the work, you can try a ride in a rickshaw with room for up to three persons.(Three if you’re slim, two persons is the ideal). The Flying Tigers offers various routes through the old part of Copenhagen or you can choose your own route. One hour - DKK 300.
Hotel Bikes
At 90% of the Copenhagen Hotels, bicycles are available for rent through Copenhagen Tours. Price for one day is DKK 100.-. See link below. Copenhagen Tours also offer guided bicycle tours daily at 10:15 am from Vodrofsvej 55 B.
