Oceania Cruises’ Regatta to Arrive in Miami on November 24th

Oceania Cruises’ flagship, the luxurious M/S Regatta, is set to make her grand entrance into the Port of Miami at 7 a.m. on Monday, November 24th. Escorted by a flotilla of pleasure craft and tug boats with a traditional water cannon salute, she will sail majestically down Government Cut to her berth at Terminal 12, on the south side of Dodge Island. The vessel’s arrival marks her North American debut and heralds the start of her highly anticipated Caribbean season. Regatta is currently sailing a 14 nigh transatlantic voyage from Lisbon which marks the conclusion of her sold out inaugural season of European voyages.

Launched on January 6, 2003 by well known industry veterans and local entrepreneur Frank Del Rio and Joe Watters, Oceania Cruises has magically morphed from an ambitious dream into a very successful and dynamic company. Best in class cuisine, destination driven itineraries, and outstanding value define Oceania Cruises’ five-star product and has quickly positioned the company as the cruise line of choice for traditional premium and luxury category cruisers. Oceania Cruises’ second vessel, Insignia, will debut in Europe on April 3, 2004 followed by Nautica in the spring of 2005.

Having already chosen Miami as its corporate home, Oceania Cruises has gone one step further and chosen the Port of Miami as the winter homeport for its first ship, the intimate and luxurious 684 guest Regatta which is the only 5-star vessel based in Miami. Frank Del Rio, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises stated, “Miami is the cruise capital of the world and for good reason.” Miami has long been the epicenter of the cruise industry and is home to many of the largest and most successful cruise lines. Del Rio added, “The advantages to being located in Miami are numerous and varied. Oceania Cruises has been a magnet for experienced executives and personnel. We also have access to top notch industry vendors and the infrastructure of a world class city which includes an efficient transportation network.”

On November 25th, Regatta will host a series of tours and gala luncheons for 500 invited travel professionals, dignitaries and VIP guests before setting sail on her inaugural Caribbean voyage to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama and Jamaica. The balance of her winter season will find her cruising on 10- to 14-day voyages to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Central America and Mexico.

Oceania Cruises features three intimate and luxurious 684-guest ships, REGATTA, INSIGNIA and NAUTICA. Oceania Cruises is setting a new, worldwide standard for luxury cruising with the finest cuisine at sea, exceptional personalized service, grand style, and luxurious accommodations coupled with extraordinary value.
