ZAGREB, THE CRAVAT CAPITAL – Changing of the Guard - until October 31
Zagreb visitors can watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony on Saturdays and Sundays at 11.45am on the St. Mark’s Square until October 31st, with an additional ceremony on October 8th (Independence Day). Each changing of the guard ceremony begins with an attractive “preparation of the sentries and weapons inspection”. A squad of 12 soldiers participates in the ceremony, after which guards are assigned to set positions.

Ø VINKOVCI AUTUMN
Vinkovci, September 10-19
This festival of Croatian folklore has been held in Vinkovci since 1966 and has grown to one of the largest festivals of its kind in this part of Europe. The central event is a competition of folklore dances from Croatia and Croatian emigrant communities. Events feature original folklore music, dances and customs performed daily in the town of Vinkovci, located in the region of Slavonia.
Ø WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN SPEAR-FISHING
Mali Losinj, September 14-19
Lošinj will host the World Spear-fishing Championship 2010. Through a ruling of CMAS, the International Federation for Underwater Activities, hosting of the World Championship in Spear-Fishing 2010 was awarded to Croatia. Along the competition itself, there will be numerous accompanying manifestations, concerts, exhibitions, regattas etc.
Ø 86th ZAGREB INTERNATIONAL AUTUMN FAIR
Zagreb, September 22-26
The 86th Zagreb International Autumn Fair will again bring together numerous exhibitors, businessmen, experts, visitors and media representatives from all over the world. International Fair of Energetics, Electronics and Automation, International Fair of Construction Technologies, Machinery and Supporting Industry and traditionally Consumer Goods will be part of this traditional fair.
Ø 40th VARAZDIN BAROQUE EVENINGS
September 24- October 4
In autumn, between the months of September and October, a wealth of baroque music is performed not only by Croatian but equally so by world musicians and music ensembles. Performances can be heard within the ambiance of the well-preserved, restored town churches and Varaždin’s Old Town, as well as in many castles and churches spreading throughout the entire north-west region of Croatia.
Ø EXHIBITION “THE CROATIAN APOXYOMENOS”
Zadar, Museum of Ancient Glass, until September 30
The exhibition is dedicated to a bronze statue from Classical Antiquity representing a young athlete “Apoxiomenos”, discovered in the sea off the coast of the Losinj island. The ancient bronze statue was found in 1996 under the sea off the island Lošinj. The statue was lying on a sandy seabed, stuck between two rocks, at a depth of approximately 45 m.
Ø 11th A M A D E O – THEATRICAL AND MUSIC STAGE
Zagreb, until September 6
Zagreb will say farewell to the summer with the last performances of the 11th Scene Amadeo in Atrium of the Croatian National History Museum. Program is featuring theatre plays, music concerts and poetry readings.
