MUSEUM OF ANTIQUE GLASS IN ZADAR: Zadar is beautiful central Dalmatia town, already known for its beautiful Sea Organ and Monument to the Sun. On May 5, it will be richer with one more cultural institution, Museum of Antique Glass. This museum will feature antique glass from locations Relja, Asseria and Stari Grad. Visitors will be able to see how the glass was produced in the old times, and they will be able to buy replicas of famous glass pieces as well. The permanent exhibition will have over 3,000 artifacts, and there are additional 2,000 pieces that will be restored.

ECO-ETHNO WINEFEST
Krk, May 28-31
For the first time this year, the island of Krk is hosting eco-ethno wine festival in the city of Krk. It will have emphasis on great ethnic food and wine, as well as ecology awareness. Visitors will have a chance to taste great food, buy autochthon souvenirs, and also take part in lectures and presentations: Energy Sources – biomass, wind and sun, Biodynamical Cultivation of Fruits and Vegetables, Energy Efficient Houses and more. Logo of the event features Krk tower with words: City of history and culture.

- DAYS OF ANTIQUITY
Pula, May 22-24
This is an event that evokes old Roman times and features many events. Visitors come from far to take part in these festivities that include walking theater shows in English, “Parade of Gladiators” as well as street performances. The Small Roman Theatre, the Archaeological Museum, the Forum and the Amphitheatre – the whole town becomes a stage. This is a real homage to an ancient world in which this city and the whole region were born, and the motto during Days of Antiquity in Pula is, as in the old civilization of days long gone: “Bread and Games!”.
City of Pula is the cultural and economic center of Istria and is famous for “Arena”, the best preserved Roman Amphitheater in Europe. www.istra.hr

- SIGHTSEEING ON DOUBLE-DECKER BUS
Rijeka-Opatija
Town of Rijeka on the Northern coast of Adriatic Sea offers great sightseeing in double-decker bus. Because of the great success in past 2 seasons, double-deckers continue with their sightseeing tours this year as well. Already from mid-April of this year, the service will continue till the end of the year. The bus operates between Rijeka and Opatija, beautiful resort town some 10 miles further north on the Adriatic coast. During the 3 hour sightseeing trip, tourist can hear many interesting stories from area’s past and present in 10 languages. - THE HVAR SUMMER EVENTS
Hvar, May 1 – October 31
The town of Hvar is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia. This year, for 6 months straight, it will be host to The Hvar Summer Events. The festival will feature many theater groups, folklore ensembles, musicians and more from Croatia and abroad.

-”TALES OF LONG AGO’, Ivana Brlic Mazuranic
Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (1874-1938) ranks among the top Croatian writers. Within Croatia as well as internationally she is praised as the best Croatian writer for children. Her book ” Tales of Long Ago’ (1916) is a collection of stories with motifs from Slavic mythology and local people’s wisdom. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature twice, in 1931 and 1938. She was also the first woman accepted into what is today Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1937. Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic was born in Ogulin, picturesque town in Gorski Kotar region, that is nowadays celebrating its famous citizen with events celebrating her works, many of them taking place in villages, woods and castles surrounding Ogulin.
