250th anniversary of the Demarcated Douro Wine Region of Portugal
The 250th anniversary of the demarcated Douro/Port region will be commemorated this year. This is of major historical significance since Port Wine has represented nearly 20 percent of all Portuguese exports for the past couple of centuries. The Alto Douro Wine Region was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2001.
