Oprah Cuddles Elvis During Her First Australian Stop at Hamilton Island

New agreement between Jetstar and Tourism Western Australia to boost visitors to Perth

A new agreement between Tourism Western Australia (WA) and Jetstar is set to increase visitor numbers to Perth from the east coast. Tourism Minister Liz Constable today welcomed Jetstar’s decision to expand existing key services to Perth from Sydney and Melbourne and add two new direct routes from the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Tasmanian Convict Sites Obtain World Heritage Status

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia (August, 2010): On August 1, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) added five of Tasmania’s convict history sites to the World Heritage list. In total, 11 Australian convict sites were granted world heritage status at the World Heritage Committee in Brasilia, Brazil. The five from Tasmania include:
