PARADISE ISLAND, THE BAHAMAS — The holiday season forecast at Atlantis,
Paradise Island calls for balmy, tropical fun, starting with a Thanksgiving
weekend of entertainment and activities sure to remedy the first signs of
winter. Besides a bountiful, international Thanksgiving feast at over a
dozen restaurants, guests will celebrate the holiday with a host of unique,
complimentary attractions for the whole family, culminating with a visit
from Saint Nick.
The Atlantis Thanksgiving Weekend begins on Thurs, Nov. 27 with the
Thanksgiving Island Style Fair. Back for the fifth straight successful
year, the Fair features the world-renowned Royal Bahamas Police Force Band,
Bahamian artisans, carnival games, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, live
entertainment and, of course, Bahamian seafood bounty. On Friday there will
be an authentic Bahamian Craft Show in the Atlantis Theater Rotunda and, to
bring fun-filled days to a happy close, family movies poolside at the Lagoon
Pool on Friday and Saturday evenings. The highlight of the weekend’s
festivities will be the resort’s “Celebration of Lights”, a treat for all
ages that includes Christmas carols and music, Santa’s arts and crafts
workshop, gingerbread house decorating, eggnog and more on the open-air
Royal Deck on Sat, Nov. 29.
Other Thanksgiving festivities include complimentary performances by Toxic
Audio, an acappella “musical experience unlike any other.” The five-member
Toxic Audio group was formed in 1998 at the Orlando International Fringe
Festival and has dazzled audiences ever since with tight harmonies,
improvisational comedy, vocal sound effects and unique visuals that add up
to a full ‘pop’ orchestra performance.
Joining Toxic Audio is the equally audacious comedy and juggling team On the
Edge. The high-energy duo, which combines juggling with other astonishing
feats, improvisation and razor-sharp wit, will perform on Friday and
Saturday. Both groups will also offer workshops for those guests who want
to do more than sit back and enjoy.
Rates start at $230 per night, based on double occupancy. Air-inclusive
packages available from most major cities. For special package deals, call
