Musical Icon Sir Elton John, recording legend Al Green, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gladys Knight, and Grammy Winners Earth Wind and Fire, Mary J. Blige and LL Cool J are scheduled to perform at the 3rd Annual Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago from Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29, 2007. Traveling from the land of peaches and southern hospitality to the island known for its historic rainforest, world-class diving, and eclectic culture is now easier than ever. On December 9, 2006 Delta Air Lines launched new non-stop service from Atlanta, Georgia to Port of Spain, Trinidad. Flight 319 departs Atlanta four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) at 2:50 p.m. and arrives Port of Spain at 8:30 p.m. The return flight 322 departs Port of Spain four times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) at 9:05 a.m. and arrives Atlanta at 1:15 p.m. In December 2007, Delta Airlines will launch new non-stop service from Atlanta to Tobago.
Hotel News
Trinidad will welcome two new hotels and several new developments will begin construction.
· The 428-room Hyatt Regency Hotel and Conference Center, located at Port of Spain’s Waterfront, is scheduled to open in late 2007.
· An 80-room Holiday Inn Express in Trincity is scheduled to open its doors in April 2007.
· The 150-room Cara Suites Hotel and Conference Center broke ground in December 2006 and is scheduled to be completed in summer 2008.
· Construction of the 120-room Star Hotel at Piarco International Airport will begin in 2007.
· Work on the 150 room Carlton Savannah Hotel in St. Ann’s is expected to being in 2007.
