Trinidad & Tobago Aims at Record-setting Number of Visitors during Carnivals
Trinidad & Tobago’s Tourism Minister Howard Chin Lee is hopeful that the inflow of tourists during the upcoming carnival celebrations will put his country in a position to post new record highs. What some people label as The Greatest Show on Earth will unfold next February 24. According to the Central Statistics Office, Trinitarians expect to welcome some 46,000 visitors for this years Carnival, a figure way over the 39,000 travelers who made it for the Big Bash in 2003. Mr. Lee indicated that hotels are already scoring some healthy increments of reservations for the festivities.
Local authorities Mr. Lee also said- are noticing an increasingly higher presence of regional and international news organizations on the island ready to cover the event. Were also trying to put Trinidad & Tobago on the world map as a good travel destination.
Trinidad & Tobagos Carnivals will be watched in some 89 million U.S. households courtesy of BET (Black Entertainment Television), a pay-TV network that will produce a one-hour documentary on the celebration.
