‘Canto Del Mar’ Opens In Los Cabos, Mexico

The “Canto del Mar” Restaurant, located in The Marquis Los Cabos, Beach, Golf, Spa and Casitas Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, has now opened its doors for business. The gourmet restaurant features the cooking talent of renowned Chef Thierry Dufour, who is most notable for earning his Michelin “pedigree” (one of the highest culinary honors in France), while working at a two-star Michelin Restaurant.

Chef Dufour personally prepares his specially created dishes each night for a limited 20 diners. These privileged guests of the “Canto del Mar” do not have access to printed menus as the menu changes every three days, but instead are able to choose dishes for each course that are suited to their individual preferences. Local fish and vegetables from local grocers are highlighted in the menu. The menu price is fixed, however, the cost of one of Dufour’s elite three-course Gourmet Meals, excluding alcoholic beverages or wine, is $60 – $75 per person USD, plus tax and tip. A sample menu can include Duck Consomme with morels, Roasted King Scallops with a crunchy potato “Charlotte” in cream sauce, and Vodka and green lime Granite.

The “Canto del Mar” also boasts an extensive international wine list and a collection of artwork by Latin American artist Agustin Castro. Located next to the restaurant is a private living room-like lounge for pre- and post-dinner drinks, which includes a humidor for cigars and the finest cognacs. The Marquis Los Cabos Resort has high hopes for its new restaurant as Ella Messerli, General Manager, states, “Our sights are set on being the best restaurant in Los Cabos.” The restaurant is open 7 days a week from 6-11 p.m.
