The DOMAINE GARTH: The new trail on the riverside park.
The “jewel” of Lorraine! The development plan includes: construction of an amphitheatre, laying out of an English garden starting with a fountain, then creating a cultural center with the old stables and connecting the new trail beside the Rivière aux Chiens and the Rivière des Milles-Îles with the Route Verte in Rosemere. With alternating sections in gravel and wooden passageways raised on pylons, the half-kilometre trail will be equipped with magic-eye lighting that comes on when darkness falls. The Manor Garth on location will present literary evenings and different exhibitions of historical interest.
LAC MIRABEL: RECREO-TOURISTIC MEGA-PROJECT
An investment of some $350M allowing for the creation of 3,200 jobs in the Mirabel region. The promoter is the American Gordon Group; a firm specialized in shopping centers with a recreational vocation. Lac Mirabel will be located on Highway 15 in the Saint-Janvier sector, on land with a total area of more than 1.3 million square meters. It will include an international calibre shopping centre with a touristic vocation, a small marina, restaurants, businesses as well as a small theme park for children ages 7 to 12, called “Kidtropolis.” Also included in this ambitious project will be the largest covered aquarium in Canada. Work should begin in the spring of 2005 and the opening is planned for 2007.
SAINT-JÉRÔME, HOST OF THE 2005 PROVINCIAL SPECIAL SUMMER OLYMPICS
From July 7 to 10, 2005, 600 athletes and 200 coaches are expected. Sixteen (16) regions in Quebec will be represented at this major event. In addition to the presentation of the Special Olympic Games, the Municipality of Saint-Jérôme will be presenting the provincial soccer Championship at the Optimist Park in Saint-Antoine. Disciplines at the Olympics include: athletics, softball, power lifting, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming, ten-pin bowling and of course, soccer.
NEW radio SHOW DEDICATED TO tourism ON 98.5 FM
The new radio station will be broadcasting every Saturday, between 11 a.m. and midday, a new show entirely dedicated to travel and tourism. On the program: latest news, reports and interviews.
A SPECIAL VINTAGE TO CELEBRATE THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF SAINTE-ADÈLE
To commemorate the celebrations, the local Chamber of Commerce will be selling a red wine (Cabernet-Sauvignon from Chile) and a white wine (Chardonnay from France). The products will be on sale at the SAQ in Sainte-Adele at $13.95 a bottle. The label will show the new mural located on the corner of Boulevard Sainte-Adele and the Rue Morin as well as the logos of both the town and the Chamber of Commerce.
