Aurora Borealis: A Northern Manitoba Winter Adventure (March 18-21, 2005)
Winnipeg, Manitoba based Heartland International Travel and Tours, in conjunction with the Manitoba Museum, Bakers Narrows Lodge and Bearskin Air, is offering an all-inclusive weekend tour to experience one of nature’s most exciting displays … the Aurora Borealis. In addition to observing the spectacular Northern Lights from the deck of the largest winter lodge in Manitoba, the tour also includes several outdoor activities such as; ice fishing; a unique lake excursion aboard an enclosed Bombadier ice tractor; a tour to the Flin Flon Mining Museum; a visit to an Aboriginal art gallery; a slide presentation by a local historian; cultural art demonstrations such as caribou tufting, and willow furniture making.
For $1549.00 CDN + GST this package includes the Planetarium presentation of “Fire in the Sky” at the Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg. This will be followed by a private workshop conducted by the resident astronomy expert who will provide tips on how to best capture the Aurora on film. Non-stop Winnipeg – Flin Flon – Winnipeg flights, all meals and activities as mentioned above, and three nights accommodation based on double occupancy in a private cabin at Bakers Narrows Lodge round out the package.
