Motor Coach Operators the Winners at Ottawa Tourism Luncheon
Toronto – Ottawa Tourism hosted its 24th annual and immensely popular luncheon at the Ontario Motor Coach Association’s (OMCA) annual conference. This year, the conference was held November 7-11, 2009 in London, Ontario. Four motor coach operator attendees were the lucky winners of Ottawa Tourism’s distinctly different prize packages, awarded on November 10.
The four prize packages ranged in value between $1,200 to more than $2,200-a welcome prize during challenging economic times for the operators. The prize packages included hotel stays, passes for motorcoach groups to various Ottawa area attractions, dinners at leading Ottawa restaurants, shopping gift certificates, and even a commemorative “150th anniversary of the Construction of Parliament” coin from the Royal Canadian Mint worth $495.00. The luncheon featured a birthday cake centrepiece on each table celebrating the 100th anniversary in 2010 of the building where the Canadian Museum of Nature resides. In what will be one of the most visited attractions next year, the museum is planning a grand May 2010 reopening after an extensive five-year renovation and expansion program.
“We are thrilled to present these prize packages to these dedicated industry professionals and host this important luncheon along with our Ottawa Tourism members,” said Noel Buckley, president and CEO of Ottawa Tourism. “The motor coach industry is a key contributor to the economy of the Ottawa region, bringing in hundreds of thousands of student, senior, special interest and sporting groups each year.”
Eighteen Ottawa Tourism member organizations attended the luncheon along with 420 guests that included motor coach operators, bus companies and sellers of tourism related services and products.
