Orillia Jazz and Blues Festival will be Part of Ontario’s Lake Country Passport Program

Ontario’s Lake Country, ON: The 19th Annual Orillia Jazz & Blues Festival and Ontario’s Lake Country are working in partnership to offer visitors to the region outstanding entertainment during The Cottages at Port Stanton Passport to Fun Contest, October 15-18, 2009.

The 19th Annual Orillia Jazz & Blues Festival is one of six fall getaway opportunities available in Ontario’s Lake Country. The Cottages at Port Stanton Passport to Fun Contest offers six distinctive fall getaways packed full of exciting places, festivals and events that can be experienced this fall in Ontario’s Lake Country. Visitors to the region can carry along their passport and obtain stamps as they enjoy the diverse offerings in the region. One lucky participant in the contest will win their dream, Five Weeks of Cottage Living in 2010, in a luxury three-bedroom Cottage at The Cottages at Port Stanton on beautiful Sparrow Lake.

Thursday evening September 15th, marks the Opening Gala for the 19th Annual Orillia Jazz & Blues Festival at The Best Western Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre. The evening starts at 8 pm with Lady Sings the Blues – The Music of Billie Holiday featuring Shawne Jackson and an all-star jazz quintet under the direction of Lance Anderson. Visitors can bring their passports and plan their own itinerary of venues and music throughout the entire weekend. There are seventeen locations to choose from for dining and taking in mellow jazz and haunting blues.

This weekend can be rounded out with a visit to The Leacock Museum National Historic Site on beautiful Old Brewery Bay. One of Orillia’s finest heritage attractions, the site was the summer residence of Stephen Leacock, humourist and author of many books including Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town. Leacock spent much of his time at this stately lakeside retreat and a visit to the site evokes a feeling of leisurely days gone by. Also plan a visit to Downtown Orillia to see the beautiful Orillia Opera House where great performances have been staged since 1895.

To be eligible to win in The Cottages at Port Stanton Passport to Fun Contest, entrants submit their passport that must include one accommodation stamp plus their receipt. Events, festivals, studio tours, stores and studio stops are all participating contest partners. The more stamps obtained the greater the chances of winning. Passports are available at participating contest partners located throughout Ontario’s Lake Country or by downloading a passport from the website at www.ontarioslakecountry.com/passport
