To help guests unwind, Susurrus Spa has been developed to cater to the most discerning traveler or spa devotee. The word “susurrus” means a whispering sound or a murmur. It is the breath of a gentle wind dancing through pine trees, but it is also the sigh of contentment escaping the lips of all who partake of this island sanctuary spa.

One of the spa treatments guests may choose is the Harvest Moon wrap. This is an autumn-inspired full body wrap with the choice of a pumpkin and orange wrap or carrot and vitamin wrap. Both combinations help to revitalize, moisturize and nourish the skin.

Also part of the package is a complimentary visit to the Steam Cave, founded on the ancient practice of healing using steam and hot and cold waters to restore and revitalize. Built on the side of a rock face, with a dramatic overhead cascading waterfall, guests enter through a carved rock portal into a cavern of enveloping warm steam. Reclining on rock benches, guests relax while breathing in the moist air. Sweat baths have been used for millennia to cleanse pores, detoxify and increase blood flow. Upon leaving the steam cave, guests may refresh under the cold waters of a rainfall shower or plunge into a hot tub, which is perched on a rock ledge overlooking the ocean.

Poets Cove and Pender Island are easily accessible via BC Ferries, float plane or direct flight into Victoria International Airport. Information on transportation options is available at www.poetscove.com

Pender Island is one of the Southern Gulf Islands, and a favourite sailing destination. The Activity Centre at Poets Cove Resort will match guests with their preferred activities for exploring, from cultural events to sightseeing, athletic pursuits or simple relaxing moments. In addition to kayaking, bicycle trips and art tours, the Activity Centre will be offering morning hikes on Saturday and Sunday, disc golf lessons, relaxation and stretching classes. Entertainment in the evenings includes games in the lobby, family movies and popcorn in the ballroom and stargazing over beautiful Bedwell Harbour.

These activities will be welcome before and after the Thanksgiving Feast being prepared by Chef Martini DeBoard and his team. Dinner includes initial courses of oysters, chestnut veloute and parmesan flan followed by roasted free range turkey with cranberry sage stuffing, roasted garlic potatoes and market vegetables or proscuito wrapped sablefish with baby vegetables and Peruvian potatoes. The meal will be polished off with pumpkin cheesecake with chestnuts and cinnamon caramel.

Overlooking the protected cove of Bedwell Harbour, Poets Cove offers a range of accommodation choices including 22 rooms in The Lodge, 15 two-or three bedroom cottages and nine villas, all with ocean views. For mariners, the resort offers a 110-slip deep moorage marina, and a Canadian point of entry customs office, a marine centre featuring Moorings Market and the Activity Centre, heated outdoor pool, hot tub and ocean view deck.
