GOLF PARTNERS

Toronto is ranked as the third largest golf market in the world after Chicago and San Diego. With the rise of quality golf courses in Canada over the past 10 years, the GTA has begun to experience an increase of northbound tourism to play golf.

Golfers will have the opportunity to book Tee Times, arrange transportation and equipment rentals at seven prestigious courses in the GTA and outlying areas.  These courses are: Copper Creek Golf Club, Kleinburg; Eagles Nest Golf Club, Maple; Glen Abbey Golf Club, Oakville, Osprey Valley Resorts (Three different 18-hole courses), Alton; and Royal Woodbine Golf Club, Toronto.

One of the nation’s finest golf facilities, Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg, Ontario, opened to rave reviews in 2002.  Renowned Canadian golf course designer Doug Carrick designed Copper Creek Golf Course in a parkland theme.  A fully public golf course, this course features numerous elevations and depressions that will provide endless enjoyment to golfers.

Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple, Ontario, was opened in 2004.  Eagles Nest was named Canada’s Best new Golf Course by Score Magazine Canada.  Shaped from an old sand quarry and a ski hill area, the course is truly reminiscent of the sand dunes and blowout of the prestigious courses of Scotland and Ireland.  The massive dunes provide the golfer with the unique feeling of isolation while also creating a traditional “links” style golf experience on most holes.  A full service golf experience is paired with extensive practice facilities, a Titleist club fitting center (one of four in the world), a Heli-port, and a five star restaurant with a distinguished wine cellar.

Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario, is Canada’s home of golf.  Designed by world-renowned golfer Jack Nicklaus during the mid 1970s, this course has been the location of 24 Canadian Open Championships, including last year’s 2004 PGA Tournament.  Touting the motto “play where the pro’s play,” Glen Abbey offers a parkland style setting with several lakes throughout, and a 16-mile creek on the back nine.  It is one of the finest conditioned courses in the country, and also the home of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.

Osprey Valley Resorts in Alton, Ontario, is a 54 hole facility (3 different 18-hole course).  It has aptly been referred to as Canada’s “hidden gem” of golf clubs.  Osprey Valley Resorts boast an array of outstanding and well-kept courses.  The club offers great rates for the visitors who wants to play 27 or 36 holes a day, and walking is encouraged especially on its award winning Heathlands course, which was designed by Doug Carrick in the mid 1980s based on a Scottish links theme.

Royal Woodbine Golf Club is the closest champion course in the vicinity of downtown Toronto.  Known by locals as a tough but fair championship course, it is set in a ravine parkland area, only one km from Toronto Airport.  Royal Woodbine was designed by American architect Michael Hurdzan.
