Ultimate Ski Vacations Update

Spring is in the air… But that doesn’t mean the end of ski season! When it comes to spring skiing, Vermont definitely has something for everyone. With abundant snowfalls in February, this March and April should put a great finishing touch on the ski season. Many of Vermont’s ski areas wrap up with Easter Services, pond skimming contests, dress up days and family activities. The sun gets warm, the BBQ’s at the ski areas light up and the music of festivals make the end of the ski year a bit less traumatic on the hard core ski enthusiast.

Ultimate Ski Vacations offers exceptional packages to Jay Peak and Killington, two of Vermont’s most popular ski areas. Killington is known for having the longest ski season in the east, boasting the best spring skiing you’ll find anywhere! Currently, Killington is 100 percent open with 200 trails – two to three times more terrain to explore than most eastern resorts. All seven of the peaks are open, plus the terrain parks on Bear Mountain and Ramshead.

Killington Resort, located in central Vermont, stretches across seven mountains with 200 diverse trails and 33 lifts. Killington averages 250 inches of natural snow each winter. Known for its diversity of terrain, Killington provides skiers and riders of all ability levels a choice of wide-open groomed cruisers, narrow classic New England runs, moguls, steeps and trees. Killington also has multiple terrain features for snowboarders and freeskiers, including terrain parks and a Superpipe.

Jay Peak is famous for receiving the most natural snowfall in the eastern USA, with an annual average of 357 inches. Put that together with the 2,000-ft. vertical, massive glade system and the only aerial tram in Vermont, and you have one unique resort!

Located in Northern Vermont, a short drive from the Canadian border, people come from all over to ski and ride Jay Peak. Currently, all 76 trails are open at Jay Peak, with packed powder and machine groomed conditions. The base depth ranges from 28 to 60 inches. If you’ve never visited Jay Peak Resort, you don’t know what you’re missing! And there’s still time to experience the best of Jay Peak this season… Slopeside accommodations are available at Jay Peak Condominiums and Hotel Jay Peak.

ULTIMATE SKI’S PRIVATE EYE

• My buddy Al went to Tremblant over the weekend on the Excite Flight direct charter. He is a finicky skier and always chases the best snow. When Al says, “it doesn’t get any better than this,“ I know the snow conditions must be truly exceptional!

• Premium packed powder ski conditions prevail mostly in Mont Ste Anne, Mont Bromont, Mont Tremblant (32cm in the last 7 days), Lake Placid, Killington, Jay Peak, Sunshine Village/Banff and Tahoe.

• Did you hear about the bikini skiing in Tahoe last weekend?! Unseasonably warm weather visited the Lake Tahoe area, kicking off a ski season that will have some resorts open into May. The timing of the warm front encouraged a group of bikini-clad skiers and riders to get a jump on that summer tan with a ride at Heavenly Ski Resort’s Ridge Run yesterday. College students on Spring Break also took to the mountain in celebration.

• The snow continues to fall at Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine, and more snow is expected over the next few days! I hear ski conditions are fantastic at all three mountains.

• Ultimate Ski Vacations has Ski$aver deals galore, east and west! Be a wise shopper… Don’t think that just because Easter ends March 28th this year that the snow will melt away the day after.

That’s all for now… I’m heading to Tahoe on “business“!
