Celebration 2010 – Whistler Arts Showcase Scheduled for February

Celebration 2010 – Whistler Arts Showcase is an annual Celebration of the Arts. The Showcase is produced by the Whistler Arts Council in partnership with the arts and culture community of Whistler and sponsored by the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the Government of British Columbia. In 2003, during the February visit of the International Olympic Committee to Vancouver and Whistler, Celebration 2010 was convened across the province, as a celebration of local arts and culture. Celebration 2010 aimed to showcase the community’s cultural strengths. Local arts groups were invited to contribute a signature event to the showcase.

The second Whistler Arts Showcase celebrates local culture and heritage and showcases regional talent. Showcase also provides opportunity for the arts community to build capacity to 2010 leading up to full participation in the Olympics Arts Festival; and to develop and hone our cultural vision. The Showcase also develops local and visiting audiences.

Whistler Arts Showcase events will be held from February 12 – March 1, 2004. The Showcase will feature Whistler Dance Academy, Whistler Film Festival Society, Whistler Photographic Society, Whistler Public Library, Whistler Writers Group, Whistler Museum & Archives Society, Whistler Naturalists, individual artists, performers and singers from Whistler and the Sea to Sky and Lower Mainland region.

This is music you feel, as one enthusiastic opening night patron put it, ‘right down to your colon.’”
