“Man in Motion” Rick Hansen names Honourary Mayor of the Vancouver Olympic Village

The “man in motion” will be the “mayor in motion” during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Celebrated Canadian Rick Hansen – a former Paralympian who raised $26 million for spinal cord research on his 1985-1987 round the world tour – was announced in December as a co-mayor of the Vancouver Olympic Village alongside Tricia Smith, Olympic silver medalist and seven-time world championship medal winner in rowing. Smith represented Canada at four Olympic Games (1976, 1980, 1984 and 1988) and is Canada’s most internationally medaled athlete.
