Helping Victims of Natural Tragedy in Burma/Myanmar
The following are things we could all do to assist in this horrifying case of human tragedy and neglect that has occurred in Burma.
Make a tax-deductible donation to Airline Ambassadors via www.AirlineAmb.org The money will be used to buy more tents, Shelterboxes (see www.shelterbox.org), or whatever else they determine is greatest need. This organization already has people over there.
You can also donate to Tents4Peace, based in Tasmania, Australia. Experienced working after earlier disasters in Pakistan and Afghanistan, they’re now delivering aid to Myanmar via reliable Thai and Burmese connections that include the monasteries. Learn more about this grassroots organization at www.tents4peaceinternational.com More than one million people have become homeless since the cyclone, and the monsoon season has just begun. $US100 will buy a tent, or survival package with a waterproof tarpaulin and water purification tablets. Registered as a non-profit charity, Tents4Peace will accept donations at www.tents4peaceinternational.com Checks can also be airmailed to Tents4Peace, 10 Gourlay St., West Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Enclose name and address from bank deposit slip to get a receipt for tax purposes.
