Barcelo Hotels & Resorts Open Their First Hotel in Bulgaria – Barcelo Festa Sofia

This opening makes Barceló the first Spanish hotel chain to expand into the Bulgarian capital. The incorporation of Barceló Festa Sofia, which will form part of the exclusive Barceló Premium hotels, confirms the group’s commitment to expanding into the main Eastern European destinations:

Palma de Mallorca, 15th November 2005. Barceló Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Bulgaria: Barceló Festa Sofia. The incorporation of this unique 4 star establishment with 121 rooms, that will form part of the exclusive Barceló Premium hotels, makes Barceló the first Spanish hotel chain to expand into the Bulgarian capital.

This move is part of the group’s ambitious expansion plan – contracts have been agreed for the group to expand to 150 hotels in the next 2 years. At the same time it confirms their commitment to the Eastern European markets. Accordingly, Barceló Hotels & Resorts has been in Prague since 1993 and in Istanbul since 2004 and it aims to open another establishment in Warsaw (Poland) in 2007.
