Delta Reaching for Gold with Additional Flight From New York to Athens
Additional service added for customers traveling to Summer Olympic Games
ATLANTA (November 25, 2003) – Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is offering customers more service this summer from New York to Athens, Greece, just in time for the 2004 Olympic Summer Games.
From New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Delta will offer customers a second flight to Athens starting June 2. The additional flight will depart to Athens three times weekly (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) until Sept. 29.
“Since Delta’s first transatlantic flight 25 years ago with fewer than 300 passengers, Delta has grown to the point where millions of passengers each year take an international trip on a Delta flight,” said Subodh Karnik, Delta’s senior vice president – Network and Revenue Management. “Delta is proud to be the only U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service to Athens, and we’re pleased to offer customers a second opportunity to reach the original home of the Olympic Games.”
Delta currently offers one daily nonstop flight to Athens from New York-JFK.
The new service will be flown with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, featuring Delta’s award-winning BusinessElite service.
