NatureAir Announces Two New Flights
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica–NatureAir, Central America's premier airline, announces the first flight between San Jose and Limon, Costa Rica in 15 years, and the first ever flight from Bocas del Toro, Panama to Limon all beginning December 1, 2006.
NatureAir will be offering daily, morning flights from San Jose to Limon, says Alexi Huntley, NatureAir sales and marketing director. This flight will cater to cruise ship tourists and adventure seekers north to Tortuguero and Barra del Colorado before returning to San Jose. Daily afternoon flights from Bocas del Toro, Panama into Limon will connect the two beautiful coastal towns by air for the first time, returning travellers to San Jose by 4 p.m. daily.
ÂÂ
"Limon is a prime destination for exploring the beaches and national parks to the south, like Puerto Viejo and Cahuita, and the turtle nesting ground and world class fishing destinations of Tortuguero and Barra del Colorado to the north," Huntley explains.
ÂÂ
Just offshore from today's runway, Christopher Columbus anchored in 1502 on his fourth and final voyage to the New World. The area has become one of Central America's largest ports, with the first bananas shipped to the United States from here in the 19th century. Today it is a major port of call for cruise ships, whose guests take advantage of the one-day tours to the canals of Tortuguero.
ÂÂ
Until NatureAir's entrance into the Central American airline market in 2000 travelling to such attractive locales in Central America was tedious at best. Unreliable air service, poor road conditions and the subsequent long journey by bus or car made it nearly impossible for visitors to explore some of the most desirable destinations in the country.
ÂÂ
Costa Rica is a destination growing in popularity – voted as the top 2005 destination to visit by Travel Agent Magazine – so it stands to reason that a larger number of destinations are gaining in popularity, Huntley says.
ÂÂ
"With increasingly shorter vacations and greater expectations from travellers, NatureAir recognizes the need to offer more flights in Central America," he adds. "With our daily flights to Granada, Nicaragua, Panama and our newest addition to Limon, we are allowing people to visit more destinations in fewer days."
