Unisys Helps China Prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games
Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that the Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has awarded Unisys the Master Systems Integration (SI) contract to develop and integrate the core operational systems for BCIA’s new international terminal, which is being built in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games.
“This Terminal 3 (T3) project is a key national project and is one of China’s Olympic projects.
Systems integration is vital for the success of the project and we are very pleased to have appointed Unisys. They have the proven SI capability and experience to be the Master Systems Integrator for this – the largest scale, most advanced and modern international airport hub in China,” said Mr. Chen Guo Xing, chief commander of BCIA Expansion Project Headquarters.
The new terminal will double the airport’s passenger capacity from 27 million to 60 million. This expansion will allow for the more than several million additional visitors expected to travel to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic games. As part of this project, Unisys will provide and implement the airport’s Ground Operations Information System, which will be based on the Unisys Central Integrated Information Management System (CIIMS).
