The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum Downtown Arrow Trains to Run Throughout Summer

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) will be offering special trips throughout the summer. Beginning on June 12 and continuing on weekends only through August 15, Downtown Arrow trains will be running between Grand Junction Station and the Chattanooga Choo Choo Complex in the downtown area. This is a three-hour roundtrip which passes through areas of East Chattanooga along Montague Park, Chattanooga National Cemetery (within sight of the “General” monument surrounded by the graves of Andrews Raiders participants), and Warner Park with its acclaimed rose gardens. The route includes historic Missionary Ridge tunnel and Chickamauga Creek bridge. Downtown Arrow service allows TVRM to bring its rail service closer to the heart of downtown Chattanooga.

“Steam All The Way” runs on Saturday, June 19 for an all day, 100-mile roundtrip between Chattanooga and Summerville, Georgia. Steam locomotive #610 will be used to pull this train and will be turned for its return trip on a newly-installed turntable in Summerville. The route follows ex-Central of Georgia rails from Chattanooga, passing through Rossville, Chickamauga, Rock Spring, LaFayette, and Trion enroute to Summerville. Limited tickets are still available for advance reservation on this trip.

New for 2004 is a “Chickamauga Turn” service with the first trip on Saturday, June 26 (additional trips on July 17 & 31). This is a four hour roundtrip from TVRMs Grand Junction Station to Chickamauga, Georgia for a one hour layover in the historic Civil War town. The “Turn” departs from Grand Junction Station at 11:40am and returns around 4:00pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance or walk-up until departure time. Motive power is expected to be recently restored ex-Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway diesel locomotive #710.
