China Southern Offers "Charter Flight" For Pandas Presented To Hong Kong

GUANGZHOU, China – April 30, 2007 – China Southern Airlines, (NYSE: ZNH, HKSE: 1055, SHA 600029) – www.cs-air.com/en – with the largest and most technically advanced aircraft fleet in The People’s Republic of China is pleased to announce that it safely transported the two giant pandas from Sichuan to their second home – Hong Kong.

Early on 10 April, China Southern Airlines inked a "Charter Flight" pact with the Management Bureau of Wolong Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province to enable the two giant pandas to fly the carrier's world most advanced and largest B747-400 freighter to Hong Kong from Sichuan.

Thanks to China Southern Airlines' rich experience and quality service in transporting live animals in the past years, the China's central government specially designates China Southern Airlines to carry the pandas to Hong Kong, enabling the giant pandas to enjoy the nearly two-hour safe and comfortable flight journey.
< br />Currently China Southern Airlines operates two state-of-the-art Boeing 747-400 full-cargo freighters enjoying high technology in flight speed and safety performance. In the past five years, China Southern's B747-400F have successfully conducted numerous charter missions in moving making minks, Bangladeshi tigers and crocodiles.

To ensure this special Panda mission, China Southern Airlines specifically readjusted its cargo schedules and set up a detailed transport proposal and completed the slot application very quickly, all aimed at guaranteeing a safe and on-time transport to Hong Kong.

China Southern specially offered the two giant pandas a "Luxury Suite" up to 735 cubic meters at the main cargo compartment, where the temperature was controlled between 8 – 20 degrees Celsius, with fresh and tender bamboo leaves and purified water available for them to enjoy.
