Virgin Atlantic to Increase Flights to Cuba and other Caribbean Destinations
The British airline Virgin Atlantic will open new routes to Cuba and increased flights to other destinations in the Caribbean. The company, owned by Sir Richard Branson´s Virgin Group, will launch twice-a-week services from Gatwick to Havana in July 2005 and has ordered two more Airbus A340-600 as it prepares to increase frequencies on American, Caribbean, Asian and Far East routes.
Sir Richard said: “I am delighted we´re launching two new routes. I´m sure both Cuba and the Bahamas will be extremely popular with our passengers. Our presence on these routes will bring increased competition and better value for money.”
From July next year, Virgin will double the number of services from Gatwick to Grenada and Tobago to two a week, as well as operating a fifth weekly service between Gatwick and Las Vegas.
In October 2005, Virgin will add an extra daily service between Gatwick and Orlando in Florida.
