United Begins Nonstop Service Between San Francisco and Nagoya, Japan

United Airlines begins nonstop daily service on Saturday, March 26, from San Francisco International Airport to the new Central Japan International Airport near Nagoya, Japan; the return flight departs on Monday, March 28.

“United’s new Nagoya service begins just in time to bring travelers to the 2005 World Exposition Aichi, near Nagoya,” says Graham Atkinson, United’s senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Alliances. “It also is the most efficient service for business travelers to move between the western half of the United States and the industrial center of Japan. For travelers in Nagoya bound for points throughout the United States, the new and efficient San Francisco international terminal is the ideal U.S. starting point for connections.”

The Consul General of Japan in San Francisco Mr. Makoto Yamanaka says, “I am delighted to witness the inauguration of direct trans-Pacific flights on United Airlines between San Francisco and Nagoya, located in the heart of Japan. I hope many people will take advantage of this new route to visit Japan and enjoy the 2005 World Expo in Aichi Prefecture.”

“We congratulate United Airlines on this new nonstop service to Nagoya, a route that directly connects one world-class city with another,” says John Martin, airport director of San Francisco International Airport. “With its multiple nonstop services to Asia Pacific, United continues to provide exceptional service and opportunities for our customers.”

United is the largest trans-Pacific international airline, offering more flights between the 50 United States and the Asia-Pacific region than any other airline. With its Asia Pacific-based Star Alliance partners All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Asiana, Thai Airways and Air New Zealand, United provides customers with access to virtually all points in the region. Nagoya is the third Asian city to which United has introduced nonstop service from San Francisco in the past year; the airline launched nonstop service to Beijing in June and to Ho Chi Minh City in December.

United Flight 831 will depart San Francisco at 11:55 a.m. on March 26, 2005, and arrive in Nagoya the following day at 4:40 p.m. From Nagoya, Flight 830 will depart at 3:55 p.m. on March 28, and arrive in San Francisco the same day at 8:25 a.m. (flight times are subject to change). United will operate the combined passenger and cargo flights with a Boeing 777 aircraft that seats 258 passengers: 12 in United First(R), 49 in United Business(R) and 197 in United Economy(R), including more than 80 Economy Plus(R) seats.
